To Fridge Or Not To Fridge?

Vegetables might be healthy and all, but there isn’t only one way of preserving them, is it? Normally, most people would transfer their veggies into the fridge straight from their grocery bag, however, this is not always the smartest idea.

Know Your Food, Save Your Money

It’s not that some vegetables shouldn’t be refrigerated at any cost, but if you were to separate them accordingly and keep some of them on your counter, for instance, you would have a much longer-lasting supply of healthy foods.

For example, berries, leafy greens, and most other vegetables not only don’t mind being refrigerated, but also demand spending their time in the fridge.

On the other hand, some raw veggies are actually better if not refrigerated. Tomatoes preserve their texture, basil retains its healthy color and moisture, citrus is easier to juice when at room temperature, while sweet potatoes and other potato varieties should absolutely never see the inside of your fridge.

Bottom line, it’s not necessarily bad if you put all of your veggies into the refrigerator. But if you want some of them to stay edible and with all of their original nutrients, let them hang out on the counter at room temperature.
