Using a diet as a means to keep your waistline at check is one thing, but taking care of your health by proper eating is a whole other story. The two goals not only share a pretty weak connection, but are commonly reached by completely different means.

However, improving one’s health is much more complicated than dieting for weight loss. There are many different health factors that are susceptible to improvement, and today, we’re going to talk about boosting one of the most important organs in our body – the brain.

Fighting Against Time

It’s no mystery that the older we are, the less cognitive function we have. Science has proven over and over again that humans reach their intellectual peak at the age of 24, after which there is a steady decline.

While there are many mind exercises one can do to prevent or at least decrease this decline, there is another method of preserving brain function which doesn’t require spending any additional time and can be delicious while at it.

This method, of course, is a form of a brain-friendly diet. First off, you should include all foods which have a beneficial impact on the brain. These include whole grains, beans, nuts, seeds, fruit, and veggies.

Secondly, you must avoid all sugar and fried foods– cakes, biscuits, syrups, maltose, burgers, and potato fries included.

Next up are omega-3 fatty acids. These fats are not only healthy for the brain, but can also give a boost to many other organs and by doing so, protect you from various diseases.

Finally, you need to spread your meals throughout the day correctly. This means having five or more meals daily, after which you have a serving of fruit. Combine this plan with the tips above and you can rest assured your brain will work at optimum capacity for a very long time.
